The Ilmiyyah Course is a seven year intensive Islamic course covering a wide spectrum of topics. Similar to the Hifz course it runs from 8 o’clock in the morning till 12 o’clock in the afternoon, with a break in between, on a six day basis. The course also allows students, who are not in secondary education, to study extra topics, to further enhance their understanding of deen (islam) via lessons that take place after the Zuhr prayer and run until 3:45pm, five days a week. A brief overview of the course includes:

  • The learning and mastering of classical Arabic (fusha) through books regarding syntax (Nahw), Morphology (Sarf) and Rhetoric (Balaagah).
  • A deep and detailed teaching on the exegesis (Tafsir) of the Qur’aan and the laws regarding Tafsir (Usool-ut-Tafsir).
  • A comprehensive study of Islamic jurisprudence, finance and other topics through the eyes of the four Aa’immah amongst others, covering various books including the much celebrated Al-Hidayah.
  • An understanding of the different laws and rules used by mujtahideen of the past (Usool-ul-Fiqh)
  • Gaining a competent grasp of Hadith terminology and a strong relation with an extensive amount of books regarding Hadith, including the Kutub al-Sittah (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan an-Nasa’I, Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan al-Tirmidhi and Sunan ibn Majah).
  • A breakdown of the laws and rules pertaining to science of Aqidah and the different views on the subject.
  • A thorough course on the rules pertaining to the correct recitation of the Qur’aan (Tajweed) to gain a strong foundation for the reading of the Qur’aan (tilaawah).
